Enhancement of Anticancer, Antibacterial, and Acetylcholinesterase Inhibition Activities from Oscillatoria sancta under Starvation Conditions

The growth response and biological activity of the cyanobacterium Oscillatoria sancta were investigated in starvation conditions. potential was examined on BG11 Zarrouk’s media. medium supported maximum test cyanobacterium. composition modified by excluding CaCl2·2H2O, NaCl, EDTA (Na), micronutrients, replacing sodium nitrate with urea. Using three different concentrations media (Treatments 1–3), (MZ366482) compared. at 12.5% nutrient concentration had non-significant differences both dry weight biomass total protein sancta. crude extracts grown (T3) inhibited human breast cancer, pathogenic bacteria, acetylcholinesterase activity. T3 showed most potency against MDA-MB-231 cells an IC50 165.2 µg mL−1, antibacterial only Bacillus cereus (17.2 mm) Staphylococcus aureus (15.3 mm), inhibition 60.7%. Thus, it is advisable to use as a reduced-cost for mass cultivation anticancer, diseases, anti-Alzheimer purposes.
